Prof. Sanjay Goel is a forward-thinking innovation leader in higher education, well known for his deep expertise in Computing and Engineering Education, Outcome-based Education (OBE), Curriculum Design, Active and Project Based Learning, and Quality Management within the university system.
Prof. Goel brings over 37 years of professional experience. His career has encompassed different roles at various institutions, including the National Informatics Centre, Delhi Institute of Technology now known as Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT), Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), and Galgotias University. He has collaboratively worked with numerous prominent international and national experts on various projects as well as for organisation of several international conferences.
Since 1995, he has consistently held leadership positions, serving as a Project Manager and Director (Multimedia) at IGNCA, Head of Department (Department of CSE & IT) at JIIT, and Director (Institute of Engineering and Technology) at JKLU, and Dean (Academics) and Dean (School of CSE) at Galgotias University. His 16+ years’ contributions as the leader of the CSE and IT department at JIIT during 2002-2018 played a very important role in making it a highly preferred choice of students. His diverse portfolio also includes leading the doctoral programs, placements, faculty development, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). He is also an expert on accreditation processes.
Thousands of his past students are working in leading organisations like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, Intel, Dreamworks, Adobe, Yahoo, CISCO, Walmart, ORACLE, Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs, PayTM, Deloitte, E&Y, Accenture, TCS, Infosys, NIC, etc. Hundreds of them have founded and are leading their own ventures including a well-known Unicorn. A few of them are pursuing academic careers as faculty at top rated universities like Purdue University, University of Maryland, Cornell University, IITs, NITs, etc.
Backed by a multidisciplinary educational and professional background, he enjoys the interdisciplinary scholarship of integrating IT with a variety of contexts and human activities. He has authored over 30 research papers, with many of them focusing on different aspects of Computing and Outcome-based Education (OBE). His insightful perspectives have also reached a broader audience, with many articles published by media platforms like the Times of India, Hindustan Times, India Today, Indian Express, Financial Express, The Hindu, Telegraph, Business World, Mint, CNBC, Digital Learning Magazine, and Express Computer Magazine. Since 2010, he has maintained a blog on Engineering and Computing Education, featuring around 200 articles about various facets of higher education, including computing and engineering education, multidisciplinary education, OBE, the National Education Policy (NEP), NAAC, NIRF, Pedagogy, and more.
