Jaypee University Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)

UBA is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is coordinating the National Institute of UBA across the country, and presently, 50 Regional Coordinating Institutes and 3800 institutions are registered with UBA. Under this program, the country's higher educational institutions (HEIs) adopt villages for their development. To learn more about UBA click here .

Why Unnat Bharat Abhiyan?

  • Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a project that aims to bring transformational change in rural development by leveraging knowledge.
  • The scheme aims to connect Higher Educational Institutions with at least 5 villages to improve their socio-economic conditions.
  • Institutions such as IITs, NITs, and IISERs are encouraged to work with local communities.
  • So far, more than 2000 institutions have adopted over 13,000 villages.
  • The technological interventions under UBA cover agriculture, water, livelihood, infrastructure, and energy systems.

Objectives of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

UBA was launched with several objectives:

  • To create a development agenda within institutes of Higher Education to meet national needs, especially those of the rural population.
  • To emphasize the need for fieldwork and stakeholder interactions to align higher education with societal benefits.
  • To generate new ideas and outputs based on research, creating more professional opportunities.
  • To provide rural people access to the professional resources needed for academic excellence through higher educational institutions.
  • To create more opportunities in the fields of science, engineering, technology, and management for rural India.
  • To develop a sense of collective destiny between the urban and rural parts of the country.

Jaypee University, Anoopshahr

Jaypee University Anoopshahr is participating in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and has adopted the following villages for their development in collaboration with the district administration.

  • Khushalgarh
  • Roorh Bangar
  • Karanpur Kalan
  • Telia Nagla
  • Salamatpur

The UBA cell at Jaypee University Anoopshahr has been conducting surveys, group discussions, organizing awareness events, and submitting research proposals to the Government of India. In this process, JU Anoopshahr was nominated among the top-performing institutions in Western Uttar Pradesh.
